The Event

Art for Macmillan is an exciting, new event in two parts in September and October 2017 to raise money to fund services to help people affected by cancer.  take place at Rockbeare Manor, near Exeter and St Stephen’s Church, High Street, Exeter.

The programme will include:

  • Thursday 28th September 2017 – St Stephen’s Church will be our venue for an exclusive preview evening for ticket holders. Guests will be invited to enjoy a glass of refreshment and view the 20 pieces of artwork specially selected by our curators to be auctioned at Rockbeare Manor on 4th October.

  • Friday 29th September 2017 – St Stephen’s Church will be open for all to view the auction pieces, leave commission bids and purchase other beautiful artworks donated in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. It wouldn’t be the last Friday in September without the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning so hot drinks and homemade cakes will also be available between 10 and 12.

  • Saturday 30th September 2017 – The viewing and purchasing will continue in the morning. In the afternoon we will carefully pack up ready for the second part of the event at Rockbeare Manor.

  • Wednesday 4th October 2017 – Our stage will be set at Rockbeare Manor, the elegant Grade I Listed family home on the outskirts of Exeter which has been hidden from the public gaze since it was constructed in the mid 18th century and has only recently opened its doors for the most special of events. The 20 auction pieces will be displayed in various within the house for viewing. Our 120 guests will then be invited to take their seats for a sumptuous three course dinner followed by the auction. The whole evening will be lead by our host, well known West Country TV and radio personality Judi Spiers.  The auction will be conducted by TV auctioneer Graham Barton, the man with the stripey jacket, with the help of art 4 Macmillan partner Lawrences Auctioneers.

Our compére for the evening will be Judi Spiers, one of the West Country’s most popular and highly respected broadcasters. Renowned for her sharp wit and naturally engaging personality, Judi will guide you through the evening with her warmth and great sense of humour.

Graham Barton

Graham Barton

Our auctioneer for the evening will be Graham Barton. You might be familiar with Graham and his trademark striped jackets from television programmes such as BBC One’s ‘Homes under the Hammer’. Graham is a Professional Property Auctioneer here in Devon with vast experience of charity auction events.
